The Dufur High Rangers boys and girls golf teams competed in their final regular-season event April 29, the Nixyaawii Invitational at the Wildhorse Resort Golf Course in Pendleton. Junior Tora Timinsky remained undefeated, as she won her seventh girls tournament this year.

The Civic Auditorium Historic Preservation Committee has hired Elizabeth Wallis as the new program manager for the Civic. Wallis replaces Trish Neal who served in that position for about a year, at the time Neal and Sherry Munro, the board secretary, took over management of the Civic.

The Dalles will be “volunteer central” next Saturday, July 16, with a unique local event: the inaugural Community Volunteer Fair at the Civic Auditorium. The concept behind the volunteer fair is to match those interested in honing their job skills with agencies and organizations that need volunteers to help run their operations more efficiently. It’s also a great way for someone to learn more about an organization they may later want to go to work for.
