Gem documentary gets Oregon Premiere April 21

By traveling to East Africa searching out the finest colored gemstones, Ken Apland of Apland Jewelers has had the opportunity to help local communities in Kenya and Tanzania. While many jewelers wait for gem dealers to come to their store, Apland goes straight to the source — this not only provides access to gemstone rough directly from the mine but also provides much needed business for local miners.

Apland Jewelers has an open suitcase for the community to fill with books to support the initiation of a library at the Kitarini Maasai Children’s School in the rural Longido district of northern Tanzania, where 450 children attend.
