ACT (Adult Center Theater) presents “Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and ???” starting this weekend at the Hood River Valley Adult Center, 2010 Sterling Place. Shows are Sept. 7-8 and Sept. 14-15 beginning at 7 p.m., and Sept. 16 at 2 p.m.
Military family members and veterans with Point Man International Ministries packed 16 boxes Thursday for shipment to a special operations team deployed to a combat zone in the Middle East. “We asked the community for help to get some snack and hygiene items together, and they stepped up to help us take care of these men,” said Dan Brophy, a Marine vet of Vietnam who is Point Man’s chaplain.
The White Salmon Valley K-8 PTO will be holding its 26th Annual Silent Auction on Friday, April 27 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Whitson Elementary School in White Salmon. The local business community has generously donated hundreds of items and there is something for everyone, said a press release.
Youth and children from throughout the region are invited to a “Back to School Bash” starting at noon Saturday at the Wahtonka Campus of The Dalles High School, 220 E. 10th Street. The event is free, and backpacks with school supplies will be available, along with free haircuts, games and clothing.
The White Salmon Valley K-8 Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) will hold its 25th Annual Silent Auction on Friday, April 28 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Whitson Elementary School in White Salmon.
Fifth-grader Lindy Taylor decided to add two pools to her shopping list for a Memorial Day picnic, bringing the cost to feed and entertain 14 people to $405. “I was planning for a warm day,” she said about the math lesson given to her Colonel Wright Elementary class by teacher Steve Chance. “I was really nervous about it because I thought I was going to mess up on the math, but once I got going, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be.”
The White Salmon Valley K-8 PTO will hold its 24th Annual Silent Auction on Friday, April 29 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Whitson Elementary School. Bidding will end promptly at 7 p.m. Hundreds of items donated by local businesses and individuals will be available for bidding. The entire community is invited and encouraged to attend. You do not need to have students attending White Salmon schools to participate.
The 27th annual CROP Hunger Walk is this Saturday, Sept. 26, beginning and ending at Hood River Valley Christian Church, 975 Indian Creek Road, with registration starting at 9:30 a.m.
The 35th Annual Mosier Country Christmas Fair will be held Dec. 6 and 7 at the Mosier Community School.
