Last week we had some remarkable league action on the friendly boards at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes, and when the dust settled a truly eclectic mix of bowlers who shot the most over their averages ended up making our coveted Team of the Week. This particular lineup is particularly special because it’s comprised of three new faces who have never made it before
Hats off to our Team of the Week bowlers who rolled the most over their averages in last week’s league action at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes. Once again we have a nice mix of bowlers — some new, some household names and all of them on fire.
Woody Eskildsen earned top honors in league action last week at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes. Woody scattered the sticks like a pro in the Monday night Industrial league, finishing the session with a super scratch 258 game. For the evening’s work, Woody was 138 pins over his average. We’ve been watching Woody’s progress and he’s definitely found some keys to successful bowling. The right hander has a nice smooth approach, finishes on the right side of the lane at the foul line which gives the best strike angle into the pins and rolls a nice hook.
Longtime local bowling luminary, Roger Montavon, stole the thunder and propelled his team to take all the marbles in the fast paced Wednesday night Fraternal league at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes. Montavon rolled a perfect 300 in his first game of a four-team championship roll-off between round winners Electronics Assemblers, Van Cleave Design and the Amigos, plus Montavon’s Berries — the wild card team that took the most points during the season without winning a round.
The results just came in for the recent 2013 in-league Senior Tournament held at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes. Association manager and organizer extraordinaire, Joyce Ebersole, had her left side tosses in the groove as she simply cleaned up, taking the top three spots in the mixed doubles event and, just for the heck of it, finishing second in eomen’s foubles. Clearly, this makes Joyce our latest Bowler of the Week.
The 3 pound, 6 ounce pins put up a heck of a good fight at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes last week.
Smooth finesse artist Jeremy Bloom crushed the sticks in the Tuesday Nite Mixed league at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes, stringing 12 strikes in a row in his second game of the session, to notch his career third perfect 300 game.
The last couple of weeks have seen some extraordinary action in league play at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes. Nancy Asai was simply brilliant in the last Wednesday night Fraternal league, where she racked up a huge 747 three-game series — the top women’s series score for this season at Orchard Lanes.
Silky smooth Michael Allen was in the zone in last week’s Fraternal league. He scattered the sticks to the tune of a mighty fine 679 series, which was 148 pins over his average. Allen’s easy style is yet another way to make those 3lb-6oz pins dance. He rolls a nice, controllable hook, right in the track area around the second arrow to make the ball do most of the work. This outstanding performance makes him the latest Bowler of the Week and lands him on the Team of the Week at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes.
She’s definitely been on a tear, for the last four weeks of league action: Sandy Holmes has averaged over 204 with her latest effort, the best so far, a sparkling 663 series that she popped in the Tuesday Nite Mixed league at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes.
