The siting of new and the expansion of existing marijuana facilities established under Initiative 502 in Klickitat County are prohibited for the next two years.

Klickitat County’s citizen Planning Commission is recommending to the County Board of Com-missioners that it enact a 2-year moratorium on the establishment of new marijuana-related businesses and the expansion of existing ones, in unincorporated Klickitat County.

Klickitat County’s Board of Commissioners elected not to wait for a state Court of Appeals to rule on its 2012 land use plan and zoning update for the lower White Salmon River valley.

While the future of its June 2012 Husum/BZ Corner Plan and Zoning Update may be in the hands of a state appellate court, Klickitat County’s board of commissioners plans to hold a public hearing on April 23 to take public comment on revisions to or the possible repeal of the update.

It’s now legal for state-licensed growers and processors to operate in all zoning districts in the unincorporated area of Klickitat County.

Klickitat County Commissioners are seeking public comment on whether to continue, lift, or partially lift a moratorium on the production, processing, and sale of marijuana in the county’s unincorporated areas.
