Firefighters responded to a brush fire along Mill Creek just west of downtown The Dalles Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 3, 2022. The nearby swimming pool was evacuated during the fire, which was quickly contained by crews from Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue, Oregon Department of Forestry, Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area and others. Heavy smoke drifted through neighborhoods east of the fire.

Level 3 (evacuate now) evacuations now include Emerson Loop Road and Company Hollow Road. Additional crews are being dispatched to 4700 block of Eight Mile Road, where two houses are threatened. Highway 197 has been closed at approximately milepost 3 as a brush fire that started just south of the Celilo Converter Station moves southeast. Evacuations are underway in the area of Five and Eight Mile Creeks, and multiple fire and law enforcement agencies have been dispatched. Level 3 (Go) evacuation orders have been issued from Eight Mile Road to Emerson Loop Road and Eight Mile Road to junction with 15-Mile Road, both sides of road, according to Wasco County Sheriff's office.

Crews from multiple fire responded to a brush fire reported between Mosier and Rowena Saturday afternoon, on the north side of Interstate 84, and found a 50 by 10 foot fire, which has been extinguished as of noon.

A wind-driven grass and brush fire in Lyle swept across the spit of land south of the railroad tracks and Highway 14 Thursday night, burning from the vicinity of Cove Road at the mouth of the Klickitat River east to the 10th Street tunnel. At least one camping trailer was destroyed in the fire, according to witnesses. Multiple agencies responded to the fire, which started in the late afternoon.

A member of the Mid Columbia Rural Fire Protection District runs a hose out as he fights a grass and brush fire on Highway 197 south of The Dalles at milepost three Tuesday, July 14 in the afternoon. Fires were also reported at milepost 4, Eight Mile Road and Boyd Loop Road, at their junction with Highway 197.

A house fire in The Dalles Friday morning was soon followed by a brush fire in the afternoon. Bryan Hanson got home just in time Friday morning or else the fire that did most of its damage in the laundry room could have been much worse. After running errands downtown, Hanson said he heard the smoke alarm before he even pulled into his house on 2110 East 14th Street in The Dalles.
