Free news: J. Carmen Gamez has not missed a Northwest Cherry Festival Parade in The Dalles in over 40 years, but in a first for him this year, he won’t be riding a horse. Instead, he and his wife, Carmen A. Gamez, will be astride a car as the parade’s royalty, King Bing and Queen Anne.
Our young Glenwood cowgirls, Joslyn Arnold and Peyton Sanchey, had a great time at the National Pro Rodeo (NPRA) Finals in Salem last weekend. While the Finals didn’t go as well for Peyton in Barrel Racing as she had hoped, qualifying for the Finals and finishing 9th overall for the year is really something to be proud of.
Here’s an honor for a Glenwood High School senior, Jayla Avila, that needs to take top billing in today’s column. Jayla has been a standout player on the Trout Lake/Glenwood girls basketball team.
There’s not a lot of news to share this week. Everyone seems to be quite busy getting back into the school routine, I think. So, once again, most of the Glenwood news this week involves cowgirls and cowboys.
I love writing about the successes of our current and former Glenwood kids and all community members. One of our outstanding 2023 Glenwood High School graduates, Allison (Ally) McFall, has headed back to her second year at Washington State University.
