Work is scarce. College graduates are jobless. Higher education is almost unreachable for struggling families. Life is no longer simple. Our costs keep increasing. Taxes soar.
We can barely make a move at home or on the highways without someone dipping heavily into our pockets for an increase in water, energy and license expenses. There is no relief in sight.
It’s time we tighten our belts if there’s any portion of the dream of this great “American Experiment” left for our children. Or do we care? I know I do; we are very concerned for the future of our children. Each of us must manage wisely under this great burden we have inherited.
Anything less is a compromise we cannot afford in these troubled times. We must avoid husband and wife team conflicts with county business. It’s a matter of human nature for spouses to discuss events of the day. Therein lies the potential for conflict of interest as agendas and strategies are built.
Nonetheless, Wasco County needs to be managed in a clean, caring, conscientious manner. Even though we may not always agree with him, Rod Runyon will strive to do his best. Through his actions, Mr. Runyon has proven we do not need a family lawyer team when he is so transparently effective alone.
All we need is Rod Runyon and two colleagues of his character to move our county forward in troubled times.
