To the editor:
I have been disappointed in how the community responded to the treatment of Scott Green, our prior Director of Parks and Recreation. I have known Mr. Green for a number of years. He has worked for our park district for 10 years and has 28 years of experience as a park professional.
It is hard to understand how someone with these credentials who has made nearly $2 million in improvements to our local parks is not someone we want. Why do we not keep an employee who has been the Oregon State Employee of the Year, built two new parks, received a FEMA award for organizing $1.5 million for natural disasters, received awards for going beyond the call of duty, taught change and ethical behavior for the state, and someone who has helped to pass a $3.7 million bond to build our community a new pool. I have trouble understanding why we do not want to keep a person like this in our community continuing to push our parks forward in a positive direction.
