My neighbors have been hounded for years by the city. To pay for the new sewer, water lines, repaving and putting 19th St. through, my own cost for this would be $10,000 and the city would charge 5 percent if not paid in full.
I was told by the city when I moved to Thompson Street I would have to pay for sidewalks someday, which is a lot less than the other. For years now my neighbors have told me the city only fills a pothole if it gets really bad. We feel the city has held us hostage until they can get what they want.
Mr. Dick: I think you didn’t give our fire truck drivers much credit when you said Thompson St. isn’t accessible to fire trucks. Funny thing is I’ve seen the trucks up here several times, including once a year going all over for the food drive. (By the way, thank you fire truck drivers and first responders.)
Mr. Dick: I personally have driven through Thompson intersection 10 to 12 times a day for the last five years. I have never seen an accident or even a close call, and no long waits. The city absolutely does not need to spend $13,000 on a traffic safety study. I just gave you one and it was for free.
Mayor Steve Lawrence: Thank you for seeing the city doesn’t need to spend $13,000 on just a study as well as for seeing that this is not a dangerous intersection.
Linda Miller: Thank you for seeing the city has 88 miles of other roads that need repair, which I totally agree with. Why is the focus always on Thompson St.? It appears to me that a few people have their own agendas concerning Thompson St.
Please leave us alone.
