Bly Mountain resident arrested for allegedly setting fires on another's property

In a statement, KCSO said Garza was identified using witness testimony.

“During the investigation, a victim who witnessed and reported a suspect intentionally set multiple fires in the area using gasoline and a flare gun,” the statement read. “Evidence was collected at the scene, including a gasoline container and burned materials.”

Fire crews with Klamath County Fire District 5 and the Oregon Department of Forestry responded to initial reports of wildfires around Hummingbird Lane and Bunting Road around 1 p.m.

Four of the fires were on Garza’s own property with two additional fires on the reported victim’s land.

Sheriff Shane Mitchell said law enforcement had suspected arson in other recent fires on Bly Mountain.

“We have some information, but we don’t have proof yet,” Mitchell said. “We looked at putting up trail cams, but then (the fires) subsided.”

The most recent blazes posed a serious threat to properties, leading to additional charges of reckless endangering and menacing.

Garza is also charged with first-degree arson and coercion.

KCSO’s statement said the case is still under investigation.
