Hood River Warming Shelter host Sandy Spellecy, right, briefs shelter volunteers Leigh Hancock, center, and Michelle Nijhuis on procedures at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, the shelter site last week. On Jan. 8, the shelter moved to Covenant Christian Church. To learn more about the shelter and how to help, go to hoodrivercares.org. Guests may check in at the rotating sites nightly starting at 6 p.m. for a warm place to sleep, a hot dinner and breakfast, and other services. No drugs, alcohol, tobacco or weapons are allowed. “Covenant Christian Church has warmly welcomed us to their location on Frankton Road, from Jan. 8 to Jan 22,” said Carole Dearholt, co-director. “If the use of their church for the shelter is acceptable to them after two weeks, we will remain there until the end of our season in March. Thanks everyone for your continued support of providing Shelter to our guests. They are very appreciative, especially during the onslaught of our winter weather.”
