HOOD RIVER — Mt. Adams Institute’s Sense of Place event series kicks off its 16th season on Wednesday, Oct. 8 with “Woven in Place: A Rancher’s Journey from Sheep to Fashion and the Olympics” at Columbia Center for the Arts, 215 Cascade Ave. Hood River. The show begins at 7 p.m.

Jeanne Carver, co-owner of the historic Imperial Stock Ranch in Wasco County and founder of Shaniko Wool Company, is a nationally recognized leader in sustainable ranching and regenerative wool production. Her innovative approach to preserving American wool has taken her from Oregon’s high desert to the global stage — supplying wool for Ralph Lauren’s Team USA Olympic uniforms in 2014, 2018, 2022, and 2024.
