Hood River Police, Dec. 10 - 16
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Assault (one), DUII (ten), driving while suspended (three), theft (four), trespass (two), unlawful possession of a concealed firearm (one), warrant (seven).
Notable incidents
Ten DUII arrests. In one incident, a resident of Seattle, Wash., was arrested on the charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. During the investigation, the Seattle resident acknowledge the use of multiple illicit substances.
Seven warrant arrests. In one incident, a local resident was arrested and lodged at NORCOR on charges of theft and three outstanding warrants.
Three theft reports. Shoplifting (two incidents) and a stolen carbon fiber paddle valued at $700.
Three driving while suspended arrests. In one incident, a Hood River resident was arrested on the charge of driving while criminally suspended. Due to their criminal status, lack of insurance, and hazardous location of the vehicle, a tow was requested and the vehicle impounded.
Two trespass arrests. In one incident, a transient person was reported to have stolen two boxes of alcohol from a local store. It was known the subject had previously been trespassed from the business. The person was contacted and found in possession of the stolen vehicle. They were arrested on charges of theft and trespass.
One non-injury vehicle crash.
Officers took a report of a fraudulent prescription at Walgreens.
An unlawfully concealed firearm was found during a vehicle stop.
A cold hit and run was reported.
One criminal mischief report, for a scratched vehicle.
The Dalles Police, Dec. 15 - 21
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Assault (three), DUII (one), parole violation (one), possession of methamphetamine (one), hit and run - property damage (one), strangulation felony (one), warrant (two).
Notable incidents
Two hit and run reports. A person was arrested for hit and run and DUII after calling in to state they hit a parked car. In another incident, a small white car hit a parked Kia, causing extensive damage.
Six theft reports. Incidents described included license plate from a vehicle, theft of accidentally generated check, theft from business.
One burglary report. A tool chest and tools was taken from Fourteenth Street in the night, two binders full of Pokemon cards valued at $250 each from a store on Dec. 16, a $2,000 log splitter from Second Street.
A case number was taken for potential trespass or burglary on Seventh Street.
Two stolen vehicle reports. In one incident, a motorcycle went missing. In another, a truck was taken from Kelly Avenue.
A vehicle located on Bret Clodfelter Way was confirmed stolen out of Hood River and recovered.
One report of fraudulent use of a credit card.
One scam was reported.
Nineteen mental health calls.
Thirteen animal calls. Barking dogs, dog bite, dogs at large, unconfirmed cougar sighting. In one incident, an dog owner was cited regarding a dog-bite incident.
Wasco County Sheriff, Dec. 15 - 20
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: assault (one), DUII (one), recklessly endangering another person (one), strangulation (one), warrant (two).
Notable incidents
A vehicle with stolen Oregon plates and expired tags was pursued near Chenoweth Loop on Dec. 18. The vehicle proceeded west onto 10th Street and out into the county’s jurisdiction, reaching speeds of 76 mph near Foley Lakes, before heading up Sevenmile Hill. On Sevenmile, the fog became too dense to continue. A deputy proceeded trying to locate the vehicle in fog with their lights off, noting OSP would continue pursuit from Mosier and Hood River was notified. The blue Subaru Legacy was found unoccupied near Evergreen Terrace, all four tires up. The vehicle was towed, the plates recovered.
One fraud report. A Dufur business reported being sent fraudulent banking information and lost two payments of $21,000 and $39,000.
One mental health call.
One theft report. Propane tank from food cart, valued at $150.
Deputies assisted with a call regarding a vehicle stuck in a particularly deep mud puddle on cutoff near Threemile Road.
Three animal calls logged. Dogs at large, missing escaped bull on Threemile.
A deputy on extra patrol through South County totted up two antelope, eight elk and four wild horses, but nothing suspicious.
Oregon State Police, Dec. 15 - 19
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: driving while suspended or revoked (three), DUII (six), recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving (one), warrant (one).
Notable incidents
Two DUII arrests. In one incident, the driver of a black Subaru Forester was stopped after they passed a trooper at 83 miles per hour on I-84 near milepost 58 eastbound. The driver show was arrested without incident and lodged at NORCOR. In another, a red two-door car was stopped for speeding 81 in a 65 mile per hour zone on I-84, and arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and endangering a minor passenger.
Troopers responded to a menacing call on I-84 near milepost 28 eastbound on Dec. 18. Two vehicles were engaged in some sort of a road rage and one driver pointed a pistol at the other driver. The suspect was located in The Dalles and the pistol was found. They admitted holding a gun upright. The suspect did not have a valid concealed weapons permit, and was issued criminal citation and released. The pistol was seized as evidence.
