This week volunteers at Adopt A Dog have selected Max as the program’s adoptable pet of the week.
Max is 3 and a half year’s old, all German shorthaired pointer, and he knows it! Max is a beautiful example of the breed — he’s smart, great with kids, ignores cats, and likes dogs he knows, although meeting new dogs needs to go slowly.
And energetic! This breed of dog is very enthusiastic and has energy to burn. His owners just don’t have the time to dedicate to Max getting the exercise he needs, so they are sadly giving him up. They think he’d make an excellent biking or running buddy, or long hike companion. He loves car rides, mostly because that means he’s about to get a good run in!
Max currently lives with an older dog and they’re good pals, but the owners say Max needs a slow intro to a new dog, at least for now. He also lives with young kids, and he thinks kids are awesome! Because of Max’s intelligence and energy level, we’d love him to go to a home who knows the breed, or is willing to learn about them. Regular exercise is a must, or this boy will get frustrated and bored, and that does not make for a happy dog!
Max knows some basic commands, is crate trained, house trained, current on shots, microchipped and neutered. The adoption fee for this super special boy is $235. The fee to adopt is charged to recoup standard veterinary expenses. Since many of our dogs are in foster, please call ahead to meet Max in Odell at the Hukari Animal Shelter, 3910 Heron Drive, or call for more information at 541-354-1083. Adoption hours are Wednesday, 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, 9-11 a.m. You can fill out an application online at our website, hoodriveradoptadog.org, or download and scan and email to us at adoptadog@gorge.net, or fax it in to 1-877-833-7166. We offer 24PetWatch microchips, which include free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service.
