THE GORGE — Moving from street protest to election turnout, Oct. 17 will be a national No Kings: Vote Early rally. Protect Oregon’s Progress, the local chapter of the national organization Indivisible, is hosting the local event.
“Voters will be encouraged to vote as soon as they receive their ballots, and to use ballot drop boxes, not the mail, to return their marked ballots, to ensure that they get counted,” said a press release.
“As our nation continues to navigate challenges to election confidence — including barriers to participation and disputes over results — the goal of No Kings IV is to encourage such strong early turnout that the integrity of the outcome is clear and cannot be viably challenged,” said Dean Myerson, one of the event organizers in The Dalles.
