A memorial service for Hood River County Sheriff Deputy Mike Anderson will be held Sunday, Oct. 15 at 1:30 p.m. at Hood River Valley High School. The public is invited to attend, and carpooling is recommended as parking will be limited.
Anderson lost his battle with cancer on Aug. 25. He was a 16-year veteran of the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office. Anderson started his career as a volunteer with the sheriff’s office in 2001 and was hired as a full-time deputy sheriff in 2007. Anderson grew up in Hood River County and was a well-respected and well-known member of the community, said a sheriff’s office press release. He spent many years as a marine deputy, search and rescue coordinator, patrol deputy and trainer. He touched many lives throughout the area and state, the press release said.
The procession route will begin at the intersection of E. Port Marina Drive and Button Bridge Road. From Button Bridge Road south to the intersection of Highway 35 and State Street, the route will then proceed on State Street until it intersects with 13th Street. Turning south, the route will follow 13th Street, which will eventually turn into 12th Street, then Tucker Road. The procession will travel along Tucker Road until the intersection of Indian Creek Road; turning north onto Indian Creek Road, the procession will arrive at Hood River Valley High School.
