May 13 food drive

U.S. Postal Service Carrier Brad Heilman walks his beat on the Heights Thursday, and he was delivering more than mail: on his belt are yellow bags that carriers are leaving for patrons to fill with non-perishable food donations.

U.S. Postal Service Carrier Brad Heilman walks his beat on the Heights Thursday, and he was delivering more than mail: on his belt are yellow bags that carriers are leaving for patrons to fill with non-perishable food donations. Place food in the bags and put in the mailbox for mail carriers to pick up on May 13 during regular mail delivery. Those putting out food are asked to raise the mailbox flag so carriers are sure to stop at the box. Over the past 24 years, letter carriers across the nation have collected more than 1.5 billion pounds of food in the annual USPS Food Drive. Food is distributed to local food banks in Hood River, Cascade Locks, Odell and Parkdale.
