Marston files for recount

WASCO CO. — Travis Marston, candidate for Wasco County district attorney on the May 21 primary ballot, has filed a demand for a recount of votes, the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office reported July 2.

The directive instructs Wasco County to perform a full recount of all ballots cast for district attorney in the primary election and provides instructions on the methods with which the recount will be conducted. Chief Deputy Wasco County Clerk Chrissy Zaugg said the county is looking to hold the recount between July 22-26.

All recounts are done by hand and are required to be conducted “as openly and expeditiously as possible,” according to the Secretary of State’s Office.

Recount demands must be filed with the Secretary of State’s office no later than the 42nd day after the election. July 2 was exactly 42 days since the election.
