Local Scouting volunteers attended the Cascade Pacific Council Court of Honor in Damascus on Feb. 25, where the Mid-Columbia District received a variety of honors, including Silver Beaver Award to Russ Patton. Kari Croke accepted the medal earned by the district for registering an 8 percent growth in enrollment, tied for top honors in the Council.
Camping Chair Nick Kirby was medaled for having the highest percentage of Cubs in the council attending Twilight Camp (day camp) and resident camps, and the district also received recognition for attaining 115 percent of their 2015 Friends of Scouting goal in fund raising for the Council.
The District shared honors for starting the most new packs (three) in the council. They include Dufur Pack 536, chartered by the Dufur First Christian Church, Goldendale Pack 551, chartered by the Goldendale United Methodist Church, and White Salmon Pack 384, chartered by the White Salmon United Methodist Church.

The District is celebrating its 100th year of Scouting in this Council, which began in 1916 as the Portland Council.
