Nobody had a comment for last week’s “Mystery,” but records at Columbia Gorge Discovery Center — where it’s number 1999.63.130 in the collections — shed some light. Also known as the Obarr Hotel, it stood on E. Second Street, The Dalles. Pictured (left to right) were George, Maude, Julia and Mr. William Obarr.  We’d love to know more, if anyone’s got a story!

And the week before, while writing frantically, I missed Gary Conley’s expert recognition of the old Petersburg School which still stands east of The Dalles. The cyclone fence gave it away!
