GOLDENDALE — Mayor Dave Jones gave Klickitat County Commissioners an update on the upcoming Goldendale Community Days celebration at the June 23 meeting.
"I just wanted to take the opportunity to invite you July 10-11 to the 100th annual Goldendale Community Days, in this, the 250th year of our country,” he said.
Jones noted the event started for a world record turnout attempt at the intersection of Columbus and Railroad streets. The event faces a significant expansion, including, for the first time in a decade, a full carnival on Main Street. The car show will be moved to the courthouse area.
Several specialty acts are expected to show up for the parade — and the mayor, good sport that he is, promised to be a target in the dunk tank, though he did stake out a turn in the afternoon, when the water would be warmer.
