Sarah Sullivan of Portland is the next Executive Director of Gorge Grown Food Network, succeeding Michelle McGrath.
“After a thorough interview process, Sarah was a clear standout,” board member Susan McCourt said. Sullivan will be transitioning into her new role immediately, and we expect her to be dedicated full time to GGFN by the end of summer.
McCourt called Sullivan “a passionate advocate for food security and a gifted community organizer.”
Her work has included directing the award‐winning school garden and scratch kitchen program at Abernethy Elementary School in Portland Public Schools, serving as former Executive Director of both Hawaii SEED and The Organic Seed Growers and Trade Association, and collaborating with multiple organizations on community food systems funding opportunities.
Sullivan has extensive experience in movement-building, organizational management, seed saving and agricultural policy.
She is also an adjunct Professor at Lewis & Clark College, and runs a business called Feast, teaching people to cook wholesome, seasonal meals from scratch at home.
“Although we are thrilled to have Sarah begin her work with GGFN, it is with some sadness that we see Michelle McGrath depart,” McCourt said.
“We know Michelle will succeed in her new role at Oregon Environmental Council, and we remain grateful for all her hard work leading GGFN.”
