DUFUR — The Dufur School board has announced the appointment of Kristin Whitley as the new superintendent of Dufur School District, effective July 1.
According to a press release, Whitley is currently serving as principal of Dufur School District. Beginning her career as a Language Arts and Spanish teacher at Sherman Junior and High School, before teaching at Dufur School District, Whitley eventually transitioned into an administrative leadership position, serving as Dean of Students before taking on her most recent roll as principal, overseeing grades K-12.
“Ms. Whitley brings a wealth of experience and deep commitment to student success. Leadership in fostering a collaborative school culture, advancing academic achievement, and strengthening community partnerships makes her the ideal choice to guide our district into the future,” Board Chair Robert Wallace said in the press release. “She has demonstrated a clear vision for student centered learning and school-wide excellence, and we are excited for her to take on this role.”
Whitely, who holds a Master of Science in Education Leadership and Policy from Portland State University, is currently completing her Superintendent Licensure at University of Oregon, and, according to the press release, plans to continue into a Doctor of Education program.
“I am honored to accept the position of Superintendent at Dufur School and am excited to continue the tradition of collaboration and partnership that makes our school and community so special,” Whitley said in the press release, “Dufur has a legacy of excellence built on strong leaderships between students, staff families and the broader community, and I look forward to working together to build upon that foundation. With a shared commitment to student success, innovative learning and a supportive school culture, I am eager to lead with integrity, dedication and a deep appreciation for the values that make Dufur exceptional.”
