AN EXCAVATOR operated by John Mann, Port of Hood River facilities manager, unearths a boulder at Event Site on the Hood River Waterfront, to assemble a new rock wall. The port has closed access at the Event Site beach until Friday, Nov. 3. Port crews are rehabilitating the beach, and heavy machinery and other hazards will be present throughout the closure. Crews were set to bring in 300 cubic yards of new washed stone material to replenish the beach slope, and place rocks along the grass edge to help mitigate erosion and improve the slope for recreational access and safety.
