THE DALLES — The Gorge Community Foundation’s (GCF) community grants program has $17,000 to donate this year to Gorge non-profits. Applications are due May 10.
For nearly two decades, GCF has awarded grants through its donor-advised funds and grant-making programs. Grant awards focus on the most pressing regional needs.
Grant proposals will be accepted for any amount up to $17,000. Awards will be made by the end of June. Previous grants have ranged from $650 to $4,000.
Projects funded in 2023 included infant play equipment, books for migrant education, culturally familiar foods for migrant workers, legal service scholarships to immigrants/refugees, folding chairs and a chair caddy, wigs and cancer care bag supplies, and spay/neuters for homeless cats, a Hispanic health fair and a pollinator garden.
