Season 7 of Rock the Block has officially come to an end, but how long will HGTV fans have to wait until another round of design teams hits the Block?
The competition series returned with new episodes on April 13. Set in Las Vegas, Season 7 saw four teams renovate identical houses in the same neighborhood. The winners of each week had the choice to add $3,000 to their design budget or $1,000 to their home’s total appraised value at the end of the competition.
The show’s rules remained the same, as the team that received the highest appraisal value for their home was named this season’s winners. However, Season 7 marked the first time in the show’s history that HGTV stars competed with celebrity partners, each with experience in home renovation and design.
Host Ty Pennington called the casting change a “genius idea” in an exclusive interview with TV Insider ahead of the Season 7 premiere. “When I first heard, I was like, ‘What? How is this going to work when they’ve never met each other before?’ Maybe it’s Season 7, and seven is a lucky number when we’re in Vegas,” he shared. “But I’ll tell you what this season of Rock the Block is big. It’s exciting, it’s flamboyant. It’s like Vegas itself. It’s a big show. Maybe it’s because the HGTV stars are working with reality stars. In many ways, they are just stars.”
Will Rock the Block return for an eighth season? And will the new format change of celebrity competitors stick around? Scroll down to see everything we know about Rock the Block’s HGTV future.

Has Rock the Block been renewed for Season 8?
No, HGTV has not yet renewed Rock the Block for another season.
What has the Rock the Block cast said about Season 8?
Ahead of the May 25 finale, Pennington weighed in on whether a potential Season 8 would once again feature HGTV/celebrity teams. “I don’t know,” he exclusively told TV Insider. “I do know that having that wildcard element is kind of spicy. It’s kind of awesome because you don’t know what you’re going to get. It’s like a variety pack of cereal. You’re like, ‘Ooh. What’s in this season?’ So, that’s a really good question.”
He added, “I like the unexpectedness of it. Look, I’m a TV guy, so anytime even I can be surprised, that’s a good thing to me.”
Who won Rock the Block Season 7?
After several weeks of intense competition, Kim Wolfe and Chelsea Meissner were named the winners of Season 7. “It honestly still feels surreal. This season pushed us creatively, physically, and mentally, so having all of that hard work validated with a win was incredibly rewarding,” Meissner exclusively told TV Insider after the pair’s big win. “We took a lot of risks with our design choices, and seeing those risks pay off made it even sweeter.”
Wolfe, for her part, gushed, “I think something really special happens when you win something where the experience itself already felt meaningful. The people felt special, the timing felt right, and it genuinely felt like we were in the right place at the right time with the right group of people. Then, when you actually win, it almost validates all of that a little bit more.”

How did fans react to the Rock the Block Season 7 finale?
Many fans were happy about Wolfe and Meissner’s Rock the Block victory. “Great job Kim & Chelsea! Loved the vision and logic behind your choices and design!” one person commented under a clip of the winning moment on HGTV’s Instagram page. Another added, “Buyers at that price point are looking for carefully curated, beautifully unique places with high end design. They aren’t looking for rental ops. Kim and Chelsea killed it and I’m glad they won!”
Others, however, were disappointed with the final results. “Dear HGTV for the fans who watch week after week… can we get a real breakdown of the appraisal and how the appraisers pick the winner?” one user questioned. “When we talk about added value being bedrooms and bathrooms and closet space we, as fans, really want to understand how the winner is chosen and why.”
Someone else shared, “I love rock the block, but I was not happy about this winner. They were good, but they were not the best. I would love to see how they brought value to their house compared to the others.” Referring to Wolfe and Meissner’s controversial multi-gen suite design, a different person posted, “We really do need a break down. This one was very hard to understand. I mean…the movie room draped in fabric? Like how? How did they have more added value than absolutely any of the others?”
