Awards season is in the home stretch, with the crown jewel of film honors, the 98th Academy Awards, airing this Sunday, March 15.
The 2026 Oscars will celebrate the biggest achievements in cinema this year, with movies such as One Battle After Another, Sinners,Hamnet, Marty Supreme, and more competing at the ceremony. Film fans won’t want to miss out, either, as there have been several surprises and shakeups among the honorees at the prior award shows that have prognosticators stumped as to who’ll win in some of the major categories.
Here’s everything to know about the 2026 Academy Awards.
Though One Battle After Another seemed like a lock for Best Picture, and Chalamet seemed destined to win Best Actor, the Actor Awards threw a wrench in things, with Sinners taking the top prize, while Jordan claimed the win as well.
Comedian Conan O’Brien will host this year’s Oscars for the second consecutive time. Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan are the executive producers of this year’s show for the third time. The announcer for this year’s show is What We Do In the Shadows star Matt Berry.
Fans can expect to see performances from the music of Sinners and KPop Demon Hunters. For the former, Miles Caton and Raphael Saadig will perform the original song, “I Lied to You,” with Misty Copeland, Eric Gales, Buddy Guy, Brittany Howard, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Jayme Lawson, Li Jun Li, Bobby Rush, Shaboozey, and Alice Smith performing a visual homage to the film. Then, for KPop Demon Hunters, Huntr/X stars Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami will perform the nominated (and likely to win) original song, “Golden.” Josh Groban and the Los Angeles Master Chorale will also appear as performers.
