The highest finish of Gorge teams in their respective state track and field championship meets was that of the Columbia High girls. Columbia was fifth at last month’s Class 1A state meet at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. The Bruins scored 34 team points, just missing out on a team trophy.

The Special District 7 champion Dufur/South Wasco baseball team is certainly going to look much different next year, and not just because an talented Ranger squad lost six graduated seniors.

It was a very successful season for the Goldendale High School Equestrian Team. The all ladies team consisting of senior Micaela Gutierrez and freshman Cassie Vance, Kiera Beasley and Raina McAllister accumulated enough points to win the high point small team for their district. Each athlete also qualified for the state competition held in Moses Lake, Wash., May 13-15.

Following a three-month-long OSAA Class 5A season on The Dalles High Riverhawks baseball team, the players are back on the field competing again just three weeks after the conclusion of the season on May 17.

Nearly every member of the The Dalles High Riverhawk squad, along with players from other area schools, are playing summer league baseball on the Hattenhauer Distributing-sponsored Columbia Gorge Hustlers American Legion team.
