Hood River Police (HRPD), Sept. 29 - Oct. 5
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Assault (three), criminal mischief (one), DUII (one), harassment (two), reckless driving (one), reckless endangering (one), resisting arrest (one), warrant (two).
Notable incidents
Three theft reports. Bicycle, license plate from vehicle, cellphone.
Three assault arrests. In one incident, a resident was arrested on charges of domestic assault, harassment and two counts criminal mischief.
Two warrant arrests.
A DUII arrest. A The Dalles resident was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, reckless endangering and a parole detainer. They gave a blood alcohol level 1.5 times the legal limit.
A non-injury vehicle crash, near milepost 62 on I-84 eastbound.
Officers arrested and lodged a juvenile person at NORCOR Juvenile Facility for robbery in the second degree.
A Hood River resident reported fraudulent charges on their credit card.
The Dalles Police (TDPD), Oct. 4 - 11
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Assault (one), charge not logged (two), DUII (three), harassment (one), menacing (one), theft (one), trespass (three), warrant (eleven).
Notable incidents
19 animal calls. Dogs at large, dogs barking, allegations of animal neglect, dogs missing. One day, officers searched for a cat-like shadow on camera near Pomona Meadows and found nothing but “lots of deer.”
TDPD assisted at a grass and wood fire near milepost 86 on I-84.
51 mental health calls.
Three theft reports. Phone, shoplifting. In one incident, a the window of a truck on Eighth was broken and tools and fishing pole taken; the catalytic converter and muffler were also cut off.
A person was arrested on charge of menacing, after allegedly trespassing onto a Sixth-Street property with a knife in their hand.
An assault was reported on Sixth, with one person allegedly cut and bleeding. A revolver was also reportedly involved. An Everbridge was sent to citizens in the area after one involved person allegedly ran eastbound towards Home Depot.
A hit-and-run report. A vehicle hit another on Tenth Street and didn’t stop.
A person was cited and released for harassment after allegedly throwing a rock and vase at employees of a business on Sixth Street.
Officers responded to a report of a drunk male walking into a house on Old Dufur Lane. WCSO also responded, and an involved person was found to have a warrants from Hood River and Sherman counties.
A Montana Street resident showed officers unexplained drips of blood from under a child’s bedroom window, up a staircase, on doors and by a shed. The drops could have come from an animal, the officer noted.
A suspect was cited for assault IV after an alleged fight between several people out in Tenth Street Oct. 6.
An unattended death.
A burglary in progress called in from West Sixth.
Wasco County Sheriff (WCSO), Oct. 4 - 10
Notable incidents
Deputies logged 48 vehicle stops.
Two thefts logged. Locations were Sixth Avenue and Washington Street.
A stolen vehicle logged from Highway 216 on Oct. 4.
Two dogs, one other animals logged.
A warrant logged on Chenowith Loop.
Three mental health calls.
An alleged gunshot on Rowena River Road.
Two assaults logged on Webber Street.
Four vehicle crashes logged from Mill Creek Road, Browns Creek Road, Highway 30 and Old Moody Road.
Oregon State Police (OSP), Oct. 4 - 11
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Assault (one), driving while suspended or revoked (one), DUII (two), fail to carry operator’s license (one), fail to perform duties of a driver (one), reckless driving (one), reckless endangering (one), possession of psilocybin (one).
Notable incidents
OSP found a recent crash on I-85, near eastbound milepost 120. A Toyota Rav4 struck a tire which had blown from a semi-truck, turned on hazard lights, and pulled over. Meanwhile, another commercial vehicle left its lane and sideswiped the Toyota with a trailer, causing significant damage.
The owner of a small, locked safe containing three firearms reported it had fallen from their trailer near Bingen, and they couldn’t find it. The firearms were reported lost.
A hit-and-run crash. A brown Chevrolet pickup, westbound near I-84 milepost 140, passed a white Audi A7 and collided with it. The Audi’s driver was transported by ambulance for injuries. The pickup continued for 13 miles until found, stopped and arrested by a Gilliam County deputy on charges of assault IV, fail to perform duties of a driver in a crash with injuries, and possession of more than 12 grams of psilocybin. Charges of reckless driving and reckless endangering were referred to Gilliam’s district attorney.
Through a database, a fish and wildlife trooper found that a hunter had harvested a wild turkey, during a closed season and in a closed area. Evidence was collected and the 20-year-old hunter cited on Oct. 7.
A hunter reported shooting a buck deer near Van Guilder Road, Sherman County. The hunter had been drawn for a buck tag in the W. Biggs unit, but hadn’t purchased it. The buck was seized for donation and the hunter cited.
Reports of a jack-knifed truck and trailer on I-84, near milepost 68 westbound, were found to describe a wrong-way driver. The older pickup with wooden flatbed trailer was last seen by Mosier fire units, eastbound in Mosier. Law enforcement personnel could not locate it.
A non-injury crash. An eastbound Honda Civic left its lane on I-84, hit the median and then a rock sideslope on the shoulder, becoming a single-vehicle, non-blocking crash. The driver said a vehicle passing on their right channeled them towards the median.
An injury crash. A pickup left the northbound lane on State Route 206, sideswiped a rock sideslope then rolled onto its top, blocking both lanes. The driver, who reported serving to avoid a deer, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Their two dogs were also treated at the scene by Sherman Veterinary Clinic.
