Holiday DUIIs — State troopers made four DUII arrests. On Dec. 14, Hood River deputies helped OSP find a Charger with California plates near Highway 35, which was going 31 mph above the speed limit, and arrest the driver for DUII, reckless driving and a warrant. Another DUII driver was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm on Dec. 14. The Dalles also recorded four DUIIs.
Injury crash — Dec. 12, a Volvo rear-ended a commercial semi and tanker trailer westbound on I-84 in Gilliam County. The Volvo’s driver then lost control, swiped the center dividers, displacing 10, and crashed, blocking the fast lane. ODOT, Sherman County deputies, North Gilliam fire and ambulance and a hazmat team from Umatilla County helped OSP. The Volvo’s driver got a citation for following too close. Separately, The Dalles reported three crashes.
Charges — Dec. 12-15, OSP charged people with driving suspended (two), DUII (four), reckless driving (three), warrant (two) weapons (one). Wasco and The Dalles don’t reveal arrests but logged four warrant incidents.Â
Dec. 8-15, Hood River officers made five DUII arrests, all alcohol-related, and charged people with assault (two), disorderly conduct (one), DUII (5), domestic assault (one), driving suspended or revoked (four), strangulation (one), theft (one), drugs (one), warrant (three), weapons (one).
Stats — Wasco County had two domestic violence calls. The Dalles recorded 11, plus an assault call. In Hood River: as sexual assault was reported. Also, officers responded to a domestic complaint Dec. 8, which resulted in one arrest. The same day, officers responded to two 911 hang-up calls and found a male had broken into his ex-partner’s home through a back window while very intoxicated and refused to leave; the person was arrested on a detainer.
Assault — On Dec. 10, an adult male was arrested in Hood River for assault IV, strangulation, illegal possession of firearm and disorderly conduct II near Pietro’s Pizza.
Thefts — Wasco County had three fraud reports. The Dalles reported another fraud, and 10 different thefts, including four on W. Sixth. Between Dec. 8-15, Hood River reported two thefts: items from near a residence and a California resident cited for shoplifting.
Vandalism — On Washington Street, The Dalles, on Dec. 18.
Drugs — On Dec. 16, an incident was on W. 10th, The Dalles.
