“We wanted to do something different during this week of sports at Columbia High School. The Bruin Club decided that we needed to team up with The Skyline Foundation to make an impact on breast cancer awareness in our community. We also felt it is important to use our sports and desire to do good in the community to raise funds for something other than athletics”, said Sean Ciemiewicz, President of The Bruin Club.
The PINK WEEK of sports includes JV Football on Oct. 14 at 5 p.m.; girls volleyball on October 15 starting at 4 p.m.; Henkle Middle School Football playoff game on October 16 at 4 p.m.; girls soccer on October 17 starting at 4 p.m.; varsity football on October 18 at 7 p.m.

Adams Soroptimists have committed to donating part of the proceeds of sales during the girls soccer games to The Breast Health Fund.
“Teaming up with The Bruin Club and Columbia High School Athletics has been energizing. We’re excited to be at the games supporting our local student-athletes who are passionate about this issue that impacts so many of our neighbors and families. We look forward to educating our community on the importance of early detection, how to access to services, and the state-of-the-art equipment available through the Skyline Breast Health program. We have no doubt, that this can be an impactful community event for years to come,” said Jill Catherine of The Skyline Heath Foundation.
The Breast Health Program at Skyline is an essential life-saving program that assists breast cancer screenings and diagnostic tests for under/uninsured individuals, regardless of age or gender. It also supports the purchase of the latest breast health technology, which is vital for early detection. Since the inception of this fund, Skyline has provided nearly 100 patients with mammograms and/or diagnostic tests. These are patients who otherwise would not have access to these life-saving exams.
“Bringing high school and middle school sports into PINK WEEK and helping to raise money for breast cancer awareness is an awesome endeavor for the athletes of the school. We want to see as many people in the community come out and not only support the school sports, but also make a difference by donating to The Breast Health Fund,” said AJ Valencia, Athletics Director of Columbia High School
