WHITE SALMON — Columbia High’s Robert Grabb IV, Holden Uffelman and Razo Salazar each won two matches and teammate Matthias Posini won four and placed third overall at the Jan. 25 Battle of the Bridge Invitational wrestling tournament.
The 32-team competition was hosted by Hockinson High School.
Posini went 4-1 in the tourney at 285 pounds, with his lone loss coming in the quarterfinals to Ridgefield’s Eddie Chamberlain, who won in sudden victory. Posini battled back with three wins in consolation matches, capped by a technical fall over Wyatt Henderling of Heritage.
Grabb IV won twice at 150 pounds — both victories by fall. His quarterfinal loss was to top-seed Storey Woodbury of Goldendale. Uffelman also scored seven team points at 157 pounds and won twice by pin. One of Salazar’s two pins at 215 pounds came in 37 seconds to Bryan Navarro of Camas.
Columbia’s Ezekiel Carl won five matches in the junior varsity tourney and finished third overall. He lost in the quarterfinals but won four consolation matches. Everett Coyner won three matches in the JV tourney at 165 pounds.
Winning two matches in the junior varsity bracket for Columbia were: Giovanni Ruiz at 126; Logan Going at 144; Porter Simms at 150; Daniel Salazar at 157; Colt Calloway at 165; Juan Cortes at 175; and Marcos Contreras at 285.
