HOOD RIVER — Hood River Valley senior Logan King dipped under the 4-minute mark for 1500 meters at the April 12 Wilsonville Invitational track and field meet, winning the event in 3 minutes, 58.75 seconds.
That time moves King to No. 2 on HRV’s all-time list, a second behind Elliot Hawley.
King and his Eagle teammates finished 12th in the 17-team invite with 28 points; the HRV girls were 11th with 27 points. Kai Wagner, King’s distance training partner, finished fourth in the 1500 in a personal record 4:10.05 (No. 9 all-time).
Also scoring points (top eight places) for the HRV boys were Francisco Solberg, who cleared 13 feet in the pole vault for third place. Sophomore Wyeth Droege placed in all four of his events with three personal bests. He was seventh in the 110 hurdles (17.12 PR); eighth in the 300 hurdles (44.25 PR); seventh in the high jump (5-8); and seventh in the long jump (18-6.5 PR).
The Hood River girls placed in six individual events and one relay. Frosh Savina Davis led the way with her third place in the 1500 (4:50.61 PR) and fourth place in the 800 (2:23.98 PR). She also ran a leg on the 4x400 relay (seventh, 4:22.72) along with Georginia Williams, Alex Bronson, and Syl Perrin.
Bronson was fifth in the triple jump at 31-7; Sylvaine Farr was fifth in the pole vault at 9-6; Perrin was fifth in the 3000 (10:40.4); and Lilah Tactay was seventh in the high jump at 4-8.
