HOOD RIVER VALLEY — Host Hood River Valley’s boys cross country team won a Northwest Oregon Conference meet on Oct. 16 over three other league opponents.
HRV senior Logan King ran away from the boys field for the second successive race. He won the 5,000-meter race by more than a minute in 17 minutes, 14 seconds over the course that looped around the Eagle athletic fields and on the Indian Creek Trail.
Hood River’s top five finishers (which accounted for the team score) finished 1-2-4-5-8. Victor Coffman was second in 18:27; Copeland Louis was fourth (18:58); Andres Moretti fifth (19:00); and Brayden Strong eighth (19:23).
Hood River scored 20 team points; Wilsonville was second with 59, followed by Putnam (68) and Hillsboro (86).
Hood River girls second to Putnam
Host Hood River Valley’s girls cross country team finished second in a Northwest Oregon Conference meet on Oct. 16 over three other league opponents, including the team winner, Putnam.
Putnam, led by the top two individual finishers, won the girls race with 29 points while HRV was second with 42. Hood River’s top five runners finished in a 35-second pack, led by senior Isabella Perez and sophomore teammates Noah Crain and Isabel Ulland, who were sixth, seventh and eighth. Charlotte Fuller was 10th and Freya Nelson 11th to complete the Eagles’ team scoring. Hood River’s top five finishers were clocked between 23:18 and 23:53.
Putnam’s Gabriella Salvione won the girls race in 20 minutes, 46 seconds and teammate Grace Flowerday was second at 21:09.99.
