THE GORGE — The South Wasco County High Redsides notched a fourth straight victory in Class 1A girls basketball and scored a season-high point total in a 60-33 nonleague road win Jan. 18 over the Pilot Rock High Rockets.
The Redsides (11-5 overall, 5-1 Big Sky League), who have won seven of their past eight, also won a league contest 46-38 Jan. 17 over the Ione/Arlington High Cardinals (0-2 league, 7-6 overall) at Arlington High School. South Wasco is in second place in the Big Sky standings behind Trout Lake.
The No. 6-ranked Mustangs had 10 days off before their Jan. 21 home game versus the Condon High Blue Devils (1-4 league, 3-9 overall).
The Dufur High Rangers (3-1 league, 4-9 overall) extended their win streak to four, following a 35-32 road win over Sherman Jan. 18 in Moro. The Rangers also won 40-29 at home Jan. 17 over the Condon High Blue Devils. Earlier last week Dufur won in Hood River at Horizon Christian School behind the scoring and overall play of junior Makaila Miller.
Horizon lost 39-31 at hot-shooting Condon on Jan. 18, as Hawks’ senior Evelyn Tomka grabbed 13 rebounds. The Hawks had no answer for Condon’s five 3-pointers.
