THE GORGE — The South Wasco County High Redsides recorded their second straight win in Special District 1 six-man football, 46-26, at Dayville on Sept. 27.
The No. 8-ranked Redsides (2-0 league, 3-2 overall), guided by Coach Mike Waine, had a season-high in total offense of 530 yards.
“We shut them [Tigers] down in the first half and then we started rotating some of our younger guys into the game to replace our starters in the second half and that’s when they scored most of their points,” said Waine. “They [Tigers] didn’t really have what it takes to go against our starters in the first half and that’s when we built a big lead.”
The Redsides were led offensively by senior quarterback Storm McCoy, who was 7-for-20 passing for a season-high 283 yards and six touchdowns. Senior Gavin Hagan led the Redsides’ ground game with six carries for 80 yards rushing and a touchdown. Hagan also had five catches for 138 yards and a touchdown.
