Cooper’s Spur Road To Be Discussed
At 10 a.m. this morning, the Mt. Hood Lateral Road committee will meet with Congressman Sinnott at the local Chamber of Commerce to discuss the various phases of this project.
During the past week the Chamber of Commerce has sent out appeals for support to all the editors of the state, and Hal H. Hoss, president of the State Editorial Association has also notified the state editors that the time for fulfilling the promise made at the Legion Camp this year has now arrived and their support is needed to put this project through.
It will be remembered that, following a talk on the Mt. Hood Lateral Road given by the editor of the News, the editors of the state passed a resolution in which they promised unanimous support when Hood River County and the Legion Post decided it was time to approach the federal authorities for construction of the Cooper’s Spur Road.

Stays Home But Gets His Deer
Other hunters may have to go out in the woods and walk miles to get their deer, but the other day Max Cochran got his in the Cochran orchard only 100 yards from the back porch of their house just west of town.
Max must have been excited, anyway he tells that he had to shoot three times to get the buck.

ESD approves change in Antelope boundary
The Wasco County Education Service District board decided unanimously on Oct. 19 to approved petitions transferring land formerly in the embattled Antelope School District to other school districts.
One of the petitions called for the transfer of nearly 100 miles of land into the Maupin Grade School and Wasco County Union High School Districts in Maupin.
The petition, circulated by Antelope resident Earl Smith, had passed a 30-day waiting period.
Board member Dick Miller questioned whether this transfer might bring about litigation from the Antelope School District, which is now controlled by Rajneeshees. Wasco ESD superintended Fred Kraus said “It appears to be a non-controversial issue” and that the five Rajneeshes on the Antelope School Board apparently won’t challenge the transfer. He said there apparently is an agreement that “The people in the petition want out and the people left in the district want them out.”
