Sixth grader Jim DeLong took advantage of the weather and school vacation time to build an ice and snow igloo this week. He said the shelter took about six hours to build and rainfall Thursday and Friday put a perfect ice crust on the snow blocks he carved in the backyard of his parents. Travelers through the Columbia Gorge, however, did not find much playtime this week as the mixture of snow and sleet clogged traffic for much of the New Year’s weekend.
