This Sunday, March 24, at 2 p.m. there will be a Hawaiian hostess mystery candle party held at the Parkdale Grange Hall with 20 percent of the profits to benefit the hall.

Community members are encouraged to wear Hawaiian clothes, bring friends and neighbors and support the Grange by attending.

There will be lots of door prizes awarded to attendees.

A live auction is being added this year to the Mt. Hood Town Hall’s “Seasons of the Upper Valley” Enchanted Evening on Saturday, April 13.

The evening events include dinner and desserts.

“I’m looking forward to this year’s event as we are adding a live auction,” said Mt. Hood Town Hall board chair Christina McGhee. “There’s nothing quite like getting caught up in the excitement of a live auction and we plan to have several big-ticket items to bid on.”

The Parkdale Elementary School carnival was a big success and raised well over $6,000 for the school this year.

“We want to thank the community for coming out and supporting the school,” said PTO member Sarah Wilson. “We couldn’t have done it without them.”

Raffle ticket sales helped add to the bottom line with top-seller sisters at 250 tickets each, Alexis Montavon from Ms. Dexter-Krieger’s fifth-grade class and Bella Montavon, from Mrs. Schuler’s fourth-grade class.

Students were successful in selling more than 4,000 raffle tickets before the carnival so they will get to “Icky Sticky” Principal Kim Vogel this Friday, May 22, when they will pour pancake syrup over her and add feathers and shredded paper.

This Saturday, March 23, will be the last skate evening for the season of the Parkdale Skate Club.

“I want to thank all our participants this year,” said Hannah McCarty. “We will begin our new season this coming November.”

A new three-week class for children at the Mt. Hood Town Hall called “Magical Mythical Creature Creations” will be held on Sundays, April 7, 14, and 28, from 3 to 5 p.m.

In this class, taught by Fiona Morehouse, children will explore the makings of mythical creatures through story and sculpture.

The focus of the class will be proportion, pattern, texture and balance as children form large-scale sculptures over balloon bases.

The $70 class that includes all clay and firing costs must have a minimum of five students, with space for a maximum of nine students.
