Members of the Parkdale Grange decided it was time to fill the need for once-a-month group breakfasts that ended last year when the Lions stopped serving them.
This Sunday, Jan. 13, families can join neighbors and friends from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Parkdale Grange Hall for a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage patty and your choice of pancakes or biscuits and gravy.
Fresh-cooked applesauce will also be served, along with your choice of coffee, tea, hot chocolate or local fresh apple juice.
The cost of the breakfast is $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 5-12. Children under 4 are free.

On Thursday, Jan. 10, the Upper Valley Home Extension Group will be meeting at 10 a.m. at the Parkdale Grange Hall.
This month’s meeting will consist of a film titled, “Forks Over Knives,” and a discussion afterward about how people can eat healthier.
A whole-foods potluck will follow the meeting, so community members are encouraged to bring on the fruits and vegetables to battle the winter blahs and resolve to improve their health in the New Year.

Every third Thursday of the month Cooper Spur Restaurant will be helping out Parkdale Elementary School by donating 20 percent of its proceeds to the school’s playground equipment improvement program.
On Thursday, Jan. 17, anyone who eats at the restaurant will be helping to make improvements to the school.
Local families and supporters are encouraged to make dinner reservations for that night by calling 541-352-6036.
Cooper Spur Restaurant will also be donating 20 percent of its proceeds to Parkdale Elementary on Feb. 21, March 21 and April 18, so if you can’t make it in January you can plan for one or more of the other nights!

The Parkdale Elementary PTO will be holding free Movie Nights in the school library on Friday, Jan. 11, and Friday, Jan. 25.
The library doors will open at 6 p.m. and the family movies will be shown from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The PTO will be selling popcorn during the movie.
Donations are greatly appreciated and will go toward school field trips for the students and new playground equipment.
More information will be coming home with students and everyone in the community is welcome to attend.

Parkdale Elementary School is once again gearing up for its annual penny drive.
If you have unwanted pennies around your house and would like to donate them to the school, please drop them off at the school office during weekday school hours.

The Tai Chi for Balance Class has started back this week at the Mt. Hood Town Hall.
Classes are held on Mondays and Thursdays from 1-2 p.m. and everyone is invited to join in no matter what experience level.
There is no cost, though donations are welcome.
