According to preliminary data received by NOAA’s National Weather Service in Pendleton, Ore., temperatures at the Mt. Adams Ranger Station averaged colder than normal during the month of July.
The average temperature was 64.2 degrees which was 2.0 degrees below normal. High temperatures averaged 79.3 degrees, which was 4.1 degrees below normal. The highest was 91 degrees on July 26. Low temperatures averaged 49.1 degrees, which was 0.2 degrees above normal. The lowest was 39 degrees, on July 20.
On two days, the temperature exceeded 90 degrees.
Precipitation totaled 0.02 inches during July, which was 0.43 inches below normal. Measurable precipitation - at least .01 inch - was received on one day.
Precipitation this year has reached 19.06 inches, which is 4.75 inches below normal. Since October, the water year precipitation at the Mt. Adams Ranger Station has been 33.48 inches, which is 10.65 inches below normal.
The outlook for August from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center calls for above normal temperatures and near normal precipitation. Normal highs for the Mt. Adams Ranger Station during August are 83.4 degrees and normal lows are 47.7 degrees. The 30-year normal precipitation is 0.65 inches.
