The Dalles Chronicle invites hunters and fishers to send in stories and photos for “Hooks & Horns: An Adventure Guide to the Outdoors,” that will publish in late August.
“Hunting and fishing are popular throughout the gorge and everyone has a story so we wanted to provide the opportunity to get these stories out — best hunt, worst hunt, funny or serious,” said Tonya Flory, advertising director.
She came up with the idea for what she hopes to make a quarterly publication.
“If we get enough response this is something that we can definitely do more often,” she said.
Flory is especially interested in seeing stories about youth who are following in the family tradition and engaged in outdoor sports.
Stories and photos of hunts and fishing trips are also being sought by RaeLynn Ricarte, managing editor, and Mark Gibson, news editor. They would like to provide information in the special section about guide services, tips for processing meat and fish and camp recipes.
