The Feb. 19 mystery was solved by Gary Conley, Julie Davis, Julie Reynolds and Gretchen Kimsey. It’s the doorway of the old St. Paul’s Episcopal chapel, still standing at 601 Union Street. The doors pictured lead into the Remington Hall, and the gentleman on the steps is Colonel Lew Nichols who retired to The Dalles. He opened a geology museum to display his collections, and stayed between about 1966 to 1980, when Bishop Rusty Kimsey moved the Diocesan office to The Dalles. That image is number TDC.2018.32.6345 in the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center collections.

This week’s photo, also from the Discovery Center, shows The Dalles Barbey Packing Corp. salmon receiving station. Does anyone know where this building stood, and what happened there?
