On Saturday, Nov. 10, from 7-10 p.m., the Second Saturday Country Dance returns to Rockford Grange. The dance caller will be Ned Leager from Portland and the band will be the Mill Creek String Band. Dance lessons will begin at 7 p.m. All ages welcome. No partner required and dances are family-friendly. All dances are walked through the first time in order to learn them. Enjoy an evening of country squares, contras, circle dances and a few waltzes. Maryhill Museum host veterans
Maryhill Museum of Art extends free admission to veterans and active military members on Veteran’s Day, Sunday, Nov. 11. At 2 p.m. there will be a lecture “The Pacific Northwest in World War Two.” Join Kurt Nelson, author of “Fighting for Paradise: A Military History of the Pacific Northwest,” who will provide insight into a little-known area of American military history rich in drama. Gifford Pinchot film on Nov. 8
A free sneak preview film screening of “Seeking the Greatest Good: The Conservation Legacy of Gifford Pinchot,” is offered by the U.S. Forest Service at Springhouse Cellar in Hood River on Thursday, Nov. 8. Doors open at 6 p.m., film runs 6:30-7:25 p.m.
Following the screening, USFS employees and community members will have an opportunity to discuss the first American forester’s impact on the local recreation and conservation areas of the Gorge.
