HOOD RIVER — Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association’s Stages Musical Theatre will hold auditions for Bat Boy The Musical from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 and from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29. Auditions will be hosted at the Columbia Center for the Arts, located at 215 Cascade Ave. in Hood River. Enter through the studio door on Cascade Avenue to the left of the main door.
CGOA will present Bat Boy The Musical, directed by Ashly Will, on the first three weekends of May. “Come try out for this wacky, weird, dark comedy inspired by the supermarket tabloid stories from the 1990s,” said a CGOA press release. “There are roles in this show for all ages and genders. No experience in theater is necessary. We love to see new faces!”
Rehearsals will begin the second week of March, usually three days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Some conflicts are fine, but actors must be available for a majority of rehearsals, mandatory dress rehearsals and all performances.
To learn more about the musical and a link to a video breaking down the show’s plot, songs and themes visit gorgeorchestra.org. Watching bootlegs of the musical is highly discouraged as there are no good examples online.
Please bring a song to sing for the audition — no longer than three minutes. Actors may use a karaoke backing track for their audition; an accompanist will not be provided.
Performers will read some scenes from the script. There will be no dance audition.
Email Will, ashlydwill@gmail.com, with any questions and to request the audition scenes. Sides from the script are available ahead of time to read and practice with at gorgeorchestra.org.
