Cascade Singers announce Spring Concerts June 4-5
Cascade Singers will perform Saturday, June 4 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 5 at 3 p.m. at the St. Peter’s Landmark in The Dalles.
This is the group’s 40th anniversary. Favorite songs from past years by the choir, ensemble and children’s choir will be featured — the theme is “40 Years of Happy Singing.” Donations will be accepted at the door.
VENUE CHANGE: Concert, book signing at Mosier School June 12
Jim and Shirley O'Brien of Tucson, Ariz., are presenting a Cherry Harvest Concert and book signing on Sunday, June 12, at 3 p.m. at Mid-Columbia Senior Center, 1112 W. 9th St., . The venue is handicapped accessible. (Mosier School is closed due to recent train derailment).
‘Live Music’ kickoff at Maryhill
Kicking off Memorial Day weekend, Live Music On the Terrace is a summer tradition that takes place every weekend from 1 to 5 p.m. at Maryhill Winery. Various acts specializing in everything from jazz to rock have made this event so popular that Maryhill is releasing its third "Live Music On the Terrace" CD. Released yearly, the compilation CD showcases an array of these talented performers. Buy the new edition online or at the winery—all proceeds benefit the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.
The Hazelnuts play Mosier
The Hazelnuts: Crazy Pete and Gary Reed are back for a summer of music in the Gorge. According to their schedule, they’ll be around until Sept. 24, so be sure to stop in and show support when you can!

Baroque performance workshop
The Mid-Columbia District of the Oregon Music Teachers Association in partnership with the Oregon Community Foundation and the Nellie Tholen Fund is proud to present a free workshop for pianists, and all interested on Friday, May 27, from 10 a.m. to noon presented by Deborah Cleaver. In this workshop, Cleaver will discuss many elements of Baroque musical performance practice, and their relationship to expression, including the concepts of metric hierarchy, rhetoric, speech, articulation, ornamentation and rhythmic freedom.
Entitled “Beyond Legato: The Expressive Elements of Baroque Performance Practice” the workshop will be held at Riverside Community Church, 317 State St., Hood River. This workshop is free and open to all who are interested; no pre-registration, membership or fee is required.
Shelton, Mayfield in TD May 27
Bill Shelton and Julie Mayfield perform May 27 at 7 p.m. in a “Roots of American folk and country” concert, on the upstairs stage at Gorge Community Music, 410 E. 2nd St., The Dalles. Tickets are $7 at GCM and Klindt’s Booksellers.
