THE GORGE — The 2025 Resource Guide for the Columbia River Gorge is out now and can be picked up in participating partner locations throughout the Gorge and online at hoodriverprevents.com/resource-guide and columbiagorgenews.com.
Each year, the Resource Guide supports local organizations in their work with underserved communities and vulnerable populations.
Hood River County is excited to share the updated Resource Guide for the Columbia River Gorge!
This past year, Belinda Ballah retired from Hood River County Prevention after a long and committed career. The Prevention Program is currently focused on rebuilding the program with an immediate focus on working within the school communities and continuing community outreach. In 2025, the program will be consolidated with the Health Department and Veterans Services.
Other services include providing opioid overdose response kits and training with the Hood River County Health Department to community members, or ganizations, and agencies. The Opioid Rescue Kits include instructions on how to administer the medication as well as two doses of opioid overdose rescue medication (Narcan / Naloxone), gloves, alcohol wipes, and a mouth guard. The Anchor Box program has been very well received by the community. Anchor boxes are small blue boxes packed with materials designed to inspire, soothe and offer support. The mission of anchor box distribution is suicide prevention, awareness, and education.
We continue to look for and appreciate opportunities to educate and inform our community, using best practices, cultural humility, and the fundamental principle of inclusion in all we do.
We are grateful for the partnerships that make this work possible and look forward to the ways this guide will foster greater connection and support for the entire Columbia River Gorge.
