THE GORGE — Spring plant sales are happening throughout the Gorge.
HR Soil and Water Conservation Distinct
Hood River Soil and Water Conservation District hosts its annual native plant sale Friday, April 5 from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at the OSU Experiment Station, 3007 Experiment Station Drive. There will be more than 30 different species of conifers, deciduous trees, and flowering shrubs, starting at $2.50 per plant.This year, there will also be limited quantities of potted native wildflowers available, species such as: Yarrow, Oregon Iris, Camas, Columbine, Bleeding Heart, Mountain Strawberry, and Blanket Flower. Depending on the species, these will be sold in 3.5-inch containers or small band pots, starting at $4 per plant.

Central Gorge Master Gardeners
Central Gorge Master Gardeners transfer seedlings into pots in preparation for their Spring Plant Sale. Online orders are being accepted now through April 30 at cgngamarketplace.myshopify.com for plant pick up on May 10, 1-6 p.m. at the Master Gardener Greenhouse, 2990 Experiment Station Road, Hood River. Plants will also be available for purchase at the In-Person Plant Sale on May 11, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Master Gardener greenhouse. The In-Person Plant Sale will also offer fun and educational opportunities through the Growing Gardeners Kids’ Corner activities and Garden Gathering pop-up workshops. Central Gorge Master Gardeners will be available to assist in selecting the right plants for your type of garden and growing conditions throughout the In-Person Plant Sale. The Central Gorge Master Gardener Association Plant Sale is known for quality, locally grown plants at reasonable prices and is a fundraiser for the CGMGA. Central Gorge Master Gardener volunteers provide free beginning gardening classes and continuing education to home gardeners.
Soroptimist Hood River
Soroptimist International of Hood River is bringing back its annual flower basket fundraiser. Proceeds from the sales will go toward supporting and empowering women and girls in the Gorge community.
These baskets, suitable for home, office, or gifting, are available in two sizes: 10-inch for $35 and 12-inch for $45. Orders can be placed through Soroptimist members or online at soroptimisthoodriver.org. The deadline for orders is Wednesday, April 17. Baskets will be available for pickup Monday, April 29 through Saturday, May 4 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Vanguard Nursery, where Soroptimist members will be on hand to assist.
