HOOD RIVER — A new teen musical theater production opens June 20 at Columbia Center for the Arts. In a partnership with Theater CamilleLynne Productions, “Ride The Cyclone” includes music and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell and music by Mack Yasui, directed by Tay Lynne.
It’s “a darkly comedic and thrillingly theatrical” musical where six high school choir members die on a rollercoaster ride gone wrong. In the afterlife, a mechanical fortune teller offers them a chance to sing for a second shot at life. “What follows is a dazzling, heart-wrenching, and unexpectedly hilarious journey of self-discovery, fate, and the joy of making every moment count” with “an electrifying pop-rock score and a cast of unforgettable characters ... a fast, funny, and deeply moving experience that will leave you breathless,” read a press release.
It opens on June 20 at 7 p.m. at 215 Cascade Ave., and continues on June 21, 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. with a matinee on June 22 at 2 p.m. Tickets $25 for adults, $21 for students and seniors at www.columbiaarts.org.
